What's it about? In 2007, Ed Macy's Apache squadron was dispatched to Afghanistan's notorious Helmand Province, with the mission to fight alongside and protect the men on the ground by any means necessary. When a marine goes missing in action, Macy and his team are the Army's only hope of bringing him back alive. With a soldier strapped to each side of two gunships, they must land in the heart of Jugroom Fort, a Taliban stronghold, and come face-to-face with hordes of their unrelenting enemy. What follows is a breathtaking rescue, unlike any the world has ever seen. -.-.-.-.-. reviews - This book is a personal account of the author's experiences as an AH-64 Apache helicopter gunship pilot during combat operations in Afghanistan. Very compelling, exciting, honest, and full of, as one might expect from a decorated combat veteran, humour. Does a good job of explaining that even with lots of technology, combat is still very personal, often complicated, and dangerous. 374pp bw photos. After a "brief" read I totally concur with +++ review, it's a book you'll flick open & two hours later you're still in there, it's Generation Kill but with a purpose.
