Young Adolph, Bainbridge, Beryl
3 Bainbridge, Beryl Young Adolph
London Duckworth 2000 Hardcover Fine Fine 20.5cm
Book pristine, less than 500g for post. The Hitler in this book is a lazy, easily irritated, self-centered dreamer with a fondness for sleeping and plagued by delusions of bearded men chasing him. His paranoia is a motivating factor in everything he does here. We see through Hitler’s eyes a number of items that would later be associated with Hitler - for tattooing numbers on people in a hostel to identify them to how easy it is for one civil servant to boss around a lot of people provided he has the authority to growing a moustache, it’s all here.Hitler is already an anti-semite and a racist before the start of this story and one can assume the rest f the blanks in Hitler’s character will be filled in with his experiences in World War I.

UK Weidenfeld & Nicolson 2008 Hardcover Excellent Very Good 24 Cm
304 crisp pp & 750g packed for post to you. Nicholas Best reveals the twists and turns that led to the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. USA The Overlook Press 2001 1st Hardcover Excellent Excellent 24cm
On the night of 7 November 1918 French troops at La Capelle, on the Western Front, saw a huge white flag: the Germans were crossing the line to seek peace. But who were these Germans and what exactly did they represent? By the time they had signed an armistice, four days later, not even they knew. The Kaiser's Reich had collapsed and Germany faced chaos, while the war in Eastern Europe continued. This book traces the transition from war to peace across Europe. This book weaves politics, ideas, social life, fears, aspirations and harsh realities into a seamless reconstruction of life experienced at a great turning-point of history. review >>>> Sometimes the toughest history to write is the "glue logic", the narrative that covers the world between the cracks. 12 Dando-Collins, Stephen Crack Hardy
Australia Vinatge 2011 Softcover Very Good None issued 23.5cm
450g to post, 363 pp, photo section amidships, This is the true story of three Australian soldiers, the Searle brothers. One brother was killed at Gallipoli, another on the Western Front. One came home a decorated hero. Viv, a gifted poet who was planning to be a clergyman before the war, became a deadly efficient sniper. Ray shot himself and was charged with desertion. Ned was a true Australian larrikin, up for anything, and the black sheep of the family. The Searle boys had to crack hardy, as they fought in one grueling campaign after another - from the first wave of the Gallipoli landings to Lone Pine, from Ypres to Messines and Hill 60 in Flanders, to bloody Somme battles at Mouquet Farm, Bullecourt, and Hamel, with their brothers and mates falling all around them. Back home in an Australian country town, their mother, father, sisters and remaining brother also had to crack hardy, as the bad news from the front just kept coming, and coming. Told from the heart by the Searle brothers' great-nephew, award-winning author Stephen Dando-Collins using the letters and journals of the Searle brothers and remembrances of other family members, Crack Hardy is a compelling book that defines Australia and Australians during the making of our nation on the far-flung battlefields of the First World War.

UK John Murray 2006 Hardcover Excellent Excellent 24cm

18 Goodrum, Alastair No Place for Chivalry
UK Grub Street 2005 Hardcover Excellent/Very Good Excellent 24cm Inscription and Signature of Author
Inscription & author signature on the title page. 192 crisp pp, photos amidships, just a feather under 500g for posting. No Place for Chivalry encapsulates the story of the air defense of England against attack by night. By taking the area covered by RAF Wittering and Digby sectors, looking at the action of night fighter squadrons operating from those stations and their satellite airfields, the way the battle developed, its timeline of events, the events themselves and the organization of those involved, a coherent picture of how the night air defense of Britain evolved is formed. The narrative is pitched at a level of detail and with such human interest content that it enables readers not only to grasp what is happening and why but also to feel the tensions, frustrations and euphoria of success that the aircrews felt at the time. The reader gets a view from the cockpit or gun turret, to 'meet' and 'fly' with the men of both sides who fought in the air at night - men whose moral standards on the ground were above reproach but, when fighting in the night sky, gave no quarter. Faults? trivial bump to upper right rear corner.
